CHILD USA’s Fourth Annual Awards Ceremony and nonprofit fundraiser will honor distinguished pioneers in child protection.
The Sean P. McIlmail Hero Award will be presented to Senator Joseph Vitale for his leadership in opening a window to justice for survivors in New Jersey.
The Public Educator Award will honor the work of Paul Offit,MD & Zubin Damania (ZDogg), MD, who have worked tirelessly to shine the light of truth and science on children’s vaccinations.
The Access to Justice Award will honor the work of Jon Hatami and Brian Knappenberger. Jon Hatami is a member of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office whose work on the case People v. Isauro Aguirre was highlighted by the Netflix docuseries The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez. Brian Knappenberger is an award-winning filmmaker who directed the film and brought awareness to this important issue.
The Barbara Blaine Trailblazer Award will honor 7 male victims of a Karate coach in Brunswick, Georgia: Justin Conway, Christopher D. Brazell, Christopher Garwood, Steven R. Hood (not pictured), Dennis L. Stoll, Dennis Rose, & Steve Tann. Their courageous journey to attempt to get justice demonstrates just how difficult it is to achieve and how critical CHILD USA truly is.
The Voice for the Voiceless Award will honor reporters Jim DeRogatis and Mary Mitchell who have been writing about R. Kelly for nearly 20 years. It is due to their relentless efforts that awareness of R. Kelly’s alleged abuses have come to light and charges have been brought against him.
The Child Protector Award will honor actor Ricky Garcia who has come forward about the abuse he experienced in Hollywood and continues to speak out on behalf of victims.
