CIVIL MEDICAL NEGLECT STATUTE

Texas has a religious exemption in administrative regu­la­tions, as guidance for child protection service workers, but not in its civil statutes.

CRIMINAL MEDICAL NEGLECT STATUTE

A parent shall not be held liable for criminal injury to a child purely for providing religious treatment in accordance with the practices of a recognized religion.

Texas Criminal Statute:
TEXAS defense to criminal injury to a child
It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the act or omission was based on treatment in accordance with the tenets and practices of a recog­nized religious method of healing with a generally accepted record of efficacy.
