Jared Scotto is a nationally recognized trial lawyer and dedicated advocate who has built his career on protecting those who have suffered from neglect and abuse. He is a steadfast believer in pushing the legal process as far as necessary to ensure justice for children and adults who are victims. Jared currently leads the sex abuse litigation unit at Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C., based in the firm’s New York City headquarters. His practice is focused on representing survivors and their families in complex sex abuse and neglect cases. Beyond this specialized focus, Jared maintains an active presence in New York courtrooms, handling trials and appeals across various catastrophic injury matters, including medical negligence and construction accidents. His deep commitment to public safety was first established during his time as a prosecutor in one of the nation’s most populous and diverse counties. Jared spent five years in the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted hundreds of violent felonies. This experience involved a strong focus on high-stakes investigations and trials, many involving the use and possession of illegal firearms. Jared’s excellence in advocacy and leadership in the legal field have earned him significant recognition. The New York Law Journal honored Jared as a Distinguished Leader at the 2023 New York Legal Awards, in recognition of his leadership of one of New York State’s preeminent litigation teams dedicated to securing justice for survivors of sexual abuse. His other notable distinctions include recognition by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the NY Metro Area, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and he is ranked in the Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers Jared earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro University.
